Gina's Story: Now there are days where I forget I was ever in pain
In 2018, I was going through a lot and I developed hip dysplasia and arthritis.
I did physical therapy, did MRI’s, and was told I needed to undergo a big surgery and there was no guarantee it would solve anything.
I was a marathon runner but I was in so much agony. I could barely walk, I was having trouble going up and down the stairs, and had a noticeable limp.
I was just miserable, I was angry, and I couldn't even sleep at night.
I tried to heal my pain on my own but I was unsuccessful.
Then, my doctor at Lowell Pain Center referred me to Lin, and that’s when I was paired with my coach, Janet.
I learned about the brain and pain pathways, mindfulness, and physical embodiment from the modules, which was absolutely great. I had so many options to explore!
I had my coach and the content reminding me that if I heal my thoughts and form new pathways, the pain would go away.
That’s what happened, the pain went away within less than a month!
Now, there are days where I forget I was ever in pain.
If I have flare ups, I know how to calm my nervous system, Lin gave me that toolbox. I can run again, I’m not limited in my mobility anymore.
Lin’s program helped me relieve all the pain I was in for years.
My Recovery Toolbox
Favorite science fact: My brain has formed pain pathways where it sends messages of distress to my hip. I have to recognize that I don’t want to send that energy there anymore.
Fear-busting thought: Just because I feel something doesn’t mean something is wrong.
My mantra: When my body is in pain it’s trying to scream at me to slow down and pay attention.
My advice: You need to go through this program before having surgery to see if there’s a downgrade in pain, and I’m sure there will be.
