Conquering your triggers: Imaginal exposure for migraines
Shannon Dougherty, Pain Recovery Coach, will guide an imaginal exposure exercise for reprogramming the neural pathways that cause migraine headaches.
What to expect:
In this week’s session, Coach Shannon will lead attendees through an imaginal exposure exercise designed to gently and safely expose the brain to a stimulus that is a known and consistent trigger for migraine headaches.
Migraines are real, physiological responses to triggers in our internal environment (for example, hormonal processes in our bodies or specific memories) or external environment (for example, the time of day, or strong smells or sounds).
They are real, but they are often attributed to the stimuli themselves, rather than the neurological processes that cause them. This session’s aim is to clarify the root cause of migraine headaches (and other types of pain attacks), and to give you an example of a tool meant to work with this root cause.
Join to see how imaginal and graded exposure can help with your pain, and to get a sample of Lin’s approach to chronic pain recovery.
The session will cover:
- Brain-first approaches to migraine recovery
- Learn about Imaginal Exposure and how it is incorporated into Lin’s pain recovery approach
- Q&A with Shannon Dougherty, Lin Pain Recovery Coach
