Frequently asked questions

What’s the science behind Lin’s approach?

Lin treats chronic pain using a brain-based approach. We draw upon psychology, neuroscience, Pain Reprocessing Therapy (PRT™), Cognitive and Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Emotional Awareness and Expression Therapy (EAET), and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT).

The brain-based approach is like a jack-of-all-trades when it comes to pain management. It tackles pain from different angles, including physical, psychological, and emotional aspects. By using scientific knowledge about the connection between the brain and physical pain signals, the approach aims to change these signals over time. Basically, it's like training your brain to think differently about pain, and it can help reverse the cycle of pain.

When you experience chronic pain, it's not just a physical problem. The biopsychosocial approach understands that chronic pain involves a complicated interplay between your brain, nervous system, and body. Our approach educates people with chronic pain about patterns and habits that could be making their pain worse, and teaches them new patterns and habits that can help break the cycle of pain.

It has helped millions of people alleviate their physical pain, and it could be the key to finding relief from yours.

How soon can I expect to see results?

Every individual’s recovery trajectory is different. How soon you see results will depend on your particular circumstances as well as the time you commit to practicing and implementing the pain recovery protocol. Generally, our research demonstrates that 90% of our members show life-changing reductions in their pain within 4-6 months. Members who devote more time to the program generally see significant improvement sooner than those who engage less intensively. However, never fear - significant results are possible at any pace!

What kind of training do Lin pain recovery coaches have?

Lin pain recovery coaches each have different training backgrounds—including physical therapy, psychology, public health, education, and nutrition—and therefore have several different certifications and qualifications. Regardless of your coach’s prior experience, all Lin pain recovery coaches complete a rigorous training program to receive their Lin Coaching Certification before working with our members.

Additionally, our coaches meet weekly in small consultation groups with our clinical staff. This means that behind every Lin coach is the shared wisdom of a panel of doctors, physical therapists, and psychologists with deep expertise in pain science and treatment and decades of experience.

Is my information private?

Yes!

We will preserve the privacy and confidentiality of all of your personal information, including your name and contact information, and all communications with your coach and telehealth provider. Only your pain recovery coach, Lin provider, and administrative staff will have access to your personal information, including your name, contact information, pain assessments, and communication from your chats. Your personal information will NOT be shared with any person or organization, including your employer, health plan, or healthcare provider, unless you provide written permission. We follow federal HIPAA guidelines to protect the security of your information. As you can appreciate, we aggregate data based on an anonymous basis in order to show that our program is effective and has had a positive impact on you and other members.

If you would like to share the details of your progress with your current physician or provider, that option can be made available to you.

Does Lin take insurance?

We are currently covered by select major providers in Texas, Colorado, and Maine! We are working on getting more coverage. We do, however, accept FSA/HSA payments in all 50 states.

And even if we aren’t in-network with your insurance, our self-pay monthly program is designed to be affordable and accessible to everyone - so that you can have full access to the pain solutions you deserve.

What health savings plans does Lin support?

Here’s a quick list of everything you need to know about healthcare savings with Lin

  • You can use your tax-advantaged HSA/FSA accounts to pay for Lin with money you've already set aside for 2023.
  • The Lin program is a medical expense and, therefore, eligible for coverage with both HSA and FSA accounts.
  • Talk to the Lin customer success team and learn more about how you can use your health savings towards your Lin program.

What makes Lin different than anything else out there?

Most people struggle to get out of chronic pain because:

  • They don’t have a comprehensive understanding of their condition
  • They don’t have access to the most current, evidence-based treatments
  • They don’t have the support they need
  • They don’t have a plan to move forward

Lin provides a clinically proven program based on behavioral health-based therapies, supported by an integrative care team in the background and unlimited access to a personal health coach to help you work your program and adjust it as needed.

Do you know of any other online program that does all that?
